Man Seeking Woman is about a twenty-something down on his luck man named Josh Greenberg (Baruchel) who is trying to navigate his way through the world of dating. He seeks the help of his friend Mike (Andre) and sister Liz (Maya Erskine) to help him handle trivial situations such as the dreaded first text.
I have seen three episodes of the show so far and they have each separated themselves from one another with relatable plot-lines and fantastic character building. The show is in good hands with the fresh directing style of Jonathan Krisel, who has helmed several Portlandia episodes of the years.
The sweet and sour approach to the world of dating is a winsome combination of great acting and the eclectic writing style of Simon Rich (Saturday Night Live) that should continue to improve over the course of the ten episode season, which premieres on January 14th.
We have already scheduled an interview (which will post next week) with the Baruchel to talk about this project. We’re also covering Man Seeking Woman at TCA; be sure to check our updates on Twitter at @FreshFiction and @FreshFictionTV.
Take a quick look below at a few of the clips below to catch a glimpse at the tonal aspects of the show. It’s a certainly a weird show, but I think it will find an audience.
