If there’s one long-running franchise that I love the most, it’s the ALIEN franchise. Like many of you, I’m eagerly awaiting the latest chapter in the series, ALIEN: COVENANT. But before we see what this new paradise planet has in store for the crew of the Covenant, we need to form some kind of a bond with them. Luckily, the studio behind this (20th Century Fox) is letting us do so, gifting us with the prologue before the crew goes into hypersleep.

Conceived by Ridley Scott and 3AM, directed by Luke Scott (MORGAN), the short opens on the crew eating together one final time before their colonization mission begins.

Here’s the official synopsis:

The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world.  When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

My appetite for more is stimulated. From the two random clips I saw last December at the footage presentation, I liked the gore and frights that I saw. I think Scott has much more in store for us in this next iteration.

ALIEN: COVENANT opens on May 19.
