‘AMERICAN ULTRA’ World Premiere Recap: KStew & Crew On The Red Carpet

Preston Barta // Features Editor

A theater full of filmgoers and other prodigious fans descended upon Los Angeles’ Ace Hotel Theatre last night for the world premiere of AMERICAN ULTRA, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart. Ticket holders and stargazers lined up for hours in the breezy 86-degree heat to catch a glimpse of the talents.

Hollywood stars assembled on the red carpet, including Eisenberg (THE END OF THE TOUR), Stewart (TWILIGHT), Topher Grace (THAT 70s SHOW), Connie Britton (NASHVILLE), John Leguizamo (MOULIN ROUGE!), Tony Hale (ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT) and Michael Papajohn (NIGHTCRAWLER). Although the carpet wasn’t limited to just the cast; screenwriter Max Landis (CHRONICLE), director Nima Nourizadeh (PROJECT X) and surprise guests Taylor Lautner (TWILIGHT), Jason Ritter (PARENTHOOD), Marc Webb (director of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN) and Brett Dalton (AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.) all walked the prestigious carpet.

As soon as the stars walked the carpet, the crowd stormed in for refreshments and to hopefully locate their favorite stars for a quick pic before showtime. In fact, Topher Grace was not shy to taking photos or signing autographs, always welcoming it with a warm smile.

Once the feature started the theater roared with excitement, which played during the entirety of the film’s brisk 95-minute running time.

After the screening, the crowd took to the rooftop to attend the film’s after party. Lionsgate was kind enough to treat its guests to an open bar and bite-size horderves until 1 a.m. The stars and guests mingled with fans and celebrated the film’s much-anticipated Friday release.

Based on the screening that carried a thunderous applause long after the show’s last breath, the pleasure was all Los Angeles’.

“A style icon for the ages… Kristen Stewart is stunning at the AMERICAN ULTRA World Premiere.”
“They’re not in Forks anymore. Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner reunite on the AMERICAN ULTRA World Premiere red carpet.”

I have been working as a film journalist since 2010, dividing the first four years between radio broadcasting and entertainment writing in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. In 2014, I entered Fresh Fiction (FreshFiction.tv) as the features editor. The following year, I stepped into the film critic position at the Denton Record-Chronicle, a daily North Texas print publication. My time is dedicated to writing theatrical film reviews, at-home entertainment columns, and conducting interviews with on-screen talent and filmmakers, as well as hosting a podcast devoted to genre filmmaking (called My Bloody Podcast). I've been married for ten happy years, and I have one son who is all about dinosaurs just like his dad.
