Traditional “A boy and his dog” stories are so last year, people. Now it’s time to see “a boy and his dragon!” Sign. Me. Up. Immediately.

The film, directed by David Lowery (AIN’T THEM BODIES SAINTS), stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence,  Robert Redford and newcommer Oakes Fegley as “Pete.”

A reimagining of Disney’s cherished family film, “Pete’s Dragon” is the adventure of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliott, who just so happens to be a dragon.

Yes, this feels (and looks) a little NELL-y (Chicka, Chicka, Chickabee).

But I can’t lie; Though he’s mostly obscured in the poster below, I got goosebumps when we catch that brief glimpse of the dragon in the teaser. Only he’s not like any other run-of-the-mill type dragon. It appears this one’s got fur.

PETE’S DRAGON is the adventure of a boy named Pete (Oakes Fegley) and his best friend Elliott, who just happens to be a dragon.

PETE’S DRAGON opens on August 12, 2016.
