Is Michael Bay Trying To Ape or Escape ‘ZERO DARK THIRTY’ With ’13 HOURS: THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZI’?

Courtney Howard // Film Critic

Not that it’s such a bad thing, but I’m not sure if director Michael Bay is trying to ape or escape ZERO DARK THIRTY with his latest film 13 HOURS: THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZI. I’m guessing it might be a little bit of both. Blending real history with his trademarked “Bayhem,” the filmmaker is looking to make us sit on the edge of our seats, held in a state of gripping tension.

That said, I’m a little surprised, given the fact this could have ZERO DARK THIRTY level potential for awards, that this is debuting in January instead of December in order to be included for awards contention. Maybe the schedule was just too crowded and we at least will have something good to look forward to come the new year.

Three new posters have debuted and I gotta say, I am really digging on them hard…

13 HOURS: THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZI will open in theaters on January 15, 2016.
