Distribution studio A24 describes the film as, THE END OF THE TOUR tells the story of the five-day interview between Rolling Stone reporter (and novelist) David Lipsky (Jesse Eisenberg) and acclaimed novelist David Foster Wallace (Jason Segel), which took place right after the 1996 publication of Wallace’s groundbreaking epic novel, Infinite Jest.”

Now, a lot of our readers will be familiar with the work of Wallace and his tumultuous relationship with the press, but if you aren’t familiar with his work that fact shouldn’t deter you away from checking out the film. Many have stated their lack of familiarity with Wallace’s work and still praised the film after its premiere at Sundance back in January.

This film is directed by James Ponsoldt (OFF THE BLACK, SMASHED, THE SPECTACULAR NOW). His light touch to heartfelt drama has been executed without fail in all three of his directorial efforts. Even though Wallace may not have been a fan of having his life portrayed on-screen, there is a good chance Ponsoldt’s sensitive filmmaking style will serve his memory well. And not to mention you have phenomenal actors driving the film.

A24 announced the first poster (see above) and trailer for the film which will be arriving in theaters July 31.
