‘JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM’ final trailer gives us “The Blues”

The final trailer for J.A. Bayona’s JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM has dropped and it’s giving us a case of “the blues.” Not really “the blues” meant in the traditional sense of sadness and despair, but rather we see that the narrative hinges on Velociraptor “Blue,” who Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) used to train. A corporation has hired Owen and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) to go back to the island to rescue her. However, there seems to be nefarious corporate interests behind the purpose of that alleged rescue.

Take a look and you’ll see what we mean.

It appears that, though Blue, won’t be sold to the highest bidder, the intent with her may involve cloning (or maybe even further genetic enhancement/ splicing with Blue’s clones) as indicated by those test tubes Dr. Henry Wu (B.D. Wong) looms large over. It’s another hot take on “The Frankenstein Myth” author Michael Crichton told in Jurassic Park – one that seems perfectly suited in this dinoverse.

Here’s  the official synopsis:

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment.  Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.

When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.  Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission.  Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

Also – we’re probably guilty of burying the lede here – Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) returns and the trailer gives us a peek at his face that launched a thousand memes.

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM opens on June 22.
