‘LA LA LAND’ poster is a dream come true

Courtney Howard // Film Critic

Director Damien Chazelle’s LA LA LAND is looking more and more like what our dreams are made of: spectacular song and dance numbers, beautiful cinematography, a hyper-stylized fantastical rendering of Los Angeles, and, of course, the dream casting of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. I mean, take a look at the absolutely stunning second trailer.

LA LA LAND tells the story of Mia [Stone], an aspiring actress, and Sebastian [Gosling], a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.

Timed to its premiere at the Venice Film Fastival, Lionsgate has released a dazzling one sheet for the film.

I can NOT wait for this, but unfortunately must since I won’t be in attendance at Venice – or TIFF, for that matter. No we’re forced to wait for the film – which looks like a smash up of the documentary LOS ANGELES PLAYS ITSELF and the French candy-colored musical UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG – until December. Until then, we sit here, pouring over the trailers multiple times, memorizing the songs and mag-pie-ing out on all Chazelle’s sparkling vision.
