We all have had difficult splits from people we thought were our best friends. However, the fate of the world was never at hand, because we don’t live in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If we did, it would look a lot like the conflict at the heart of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.
In the film, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) square off to settle an argument for good- which is better: tacos or burritos? Well, maybe not that, but wouldn’t that be great?!
Here’s what they are really fighting about:
Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two
camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
Not that it’s a terrible thing, but this ad makes this film look a lot like an AVENGERS movie. Shouldn’t we be able to differentiate these properties?
