Mr & Mrs Reviews: ‘GHOSTBUSTERS’ – We Ain’t Afraid of No Ghost

Preston Barta // Editor

Whenever I am allowed a guest to a press screening, my wife is always my No. 1 choice, of course. She’s the person I talk to about a movie before I even put pen to paper (or finger to key?) when I write my reviews. So I wanted to try something new out, because Fresh Fiction is always open to new and exciting things.

For our first segment of Mr & Mrs Reviews – a video chat between my wife and I – we are covering the new GHOSTBUSTERS.

I’m sure you are familiar with GHOSTBUSTERS, but if not: It stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones as a group of “ghostbusters” who are tasked with saving New York City from varying degrees of paranormal activity.

GHOSTBUSTERS open in theaters nationwide on Friday, July 15.

I have been working as a film journalist since 2010, dividing the first four years between radio broadcasting and entertainment writing in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. In 2014, I entered Fresh Fiction (FreshFiction.tv) as the features editor. The following year, I stepped into the film critic position at the Denton Record-Chronicle, a daily North Texas print publication. My time is dedicated to writing theatrical film reviews, at-home entertainment columns, and conducting interviews with on-screen talent and filmmakers, as well as hosting a podcast devoted to genre filmmaking (called My Bloody Podcast). I've been married for ten happy years, and I have one son who is all about dinosaurs just like his dad.
