Ooh la la! COLCOA 2018 announces film festival dates

Courtney Howard // Film Critic

It’s the most wonderful time of the year: Film Festival season! In particular, when COLCOA (the City of Lights, City of Angels) French Film Festival comes to town, the best of French cinema is introduced to American Francophiles. And it doesn’t get any better than expanding your worldview with French cinema. Here, at this fest, it’s an absolute blast!

This year, the fest will be running from April 23-30 at the Directors Guild of America. Their program hasn’t been announced just yet, but these are the dates you’ll want to make sure you mark as saved on your calendar. You can be pretty much guaranteed to see many wonderful selections on this year’s schedule.

Last year’s fest introduced us to some great titles – films like ELEMENTARY, DALIDA, A BAG OF MARBLES, MR. & MRS. ADELMAN and TWO IS A FAMILY (DEMAIN TOUT COMMENCE). They also held a slew of wonderful Q&A’s after the screenings. We are sincerely looking forward to what titles will be announced this year. Personally, I’m crossing my fingers for them to show Mélanie Laurent’s newest directorial feature, PLONGER. Her first feature film, THE ADOPTED, debuted at COLCOA back in 2012, so it’s not that much of a stretch for me to hold out hope.

We will assuredly be in attendance. Will you?
