Some true life tales are so incredible, they defy logistical comprehension. It’s astounding to me that the inspirational story behind SAME KIND OF DIFFERENT even occurred. I mean, an international art dealer, a homeless man and a headstrong, gutsy, vibrant woman with a dream; you’d never guess that three people – all from different walks of life – could be united in the same way. And yet here we are. Based on the New York Times Bestselling novel by Ron Hall and Denver Moore with collaborator Lynn Vincent (author of Heaven Is For Real), co-writer/ director Michael Carney’s film gives cinematic voice to Ron Hall (played here by Greg Kinnear) and Denver Moore’s (played here by Djimon Hounsou) friendship, formed at the behest of Hall’s wife, Deborah (played by Renée Zellweger).

Take a look at the trailer – and get ready for the feels.

Must. Remember. To. Bring. Kleenex. To. This. Screening.

Here’s the official synopsis:

SAME KIND OF DIFFERENT AS ME is the story of an international art dealer Ron Hall (Kinnear) who must befriend a dangerous homeless man (Hounsou) in order to save his struggling marriage to his wife (Zellweger), a woman whose dreams will lead all three of them on the most remarkable journey of their lives. Voight plays Hall’s father, with whom he reconciles thanks to the revelations of his new life.

Uplifting films are my jam (I’m a total sucker for them), so it should come as no surprise I’ve got this book on order and I’m eagerly awaiting February 2017.

SAME KIND OF DIFFERENT AS ME opens on February 3, 2017.
