‘ROGUE ONE’ teaser trailer gives us the warm fuzzies

Courtney Howard // Film Critic

Okay, you guys; I think I finally get the excitement around the new STAR WARS movies. Of course I’ve loved them since I was a child and I was thrilled to hear more adventures would be on their way. But NOTHING prepared me for the goosebumps I got when I saw how badass Rey in THE FORCE AWAKENS was. A kick-ass, intelligent female young girls could look up to – one that passes the Bechdel Test?! YES PLEASE HERE’S ALL MY MONIES, STAR WARS.

So it’s with great pleasure to see another strong female character in that universe come to life – and through an incredible actress to boot (Felicity Jones)! ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY  tells the story of unlikely heroes who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star. HOLY SH*T IF THIS TEASER ISN’T THE MOST PERFECT THING EVER! Well, maybe minus the elephant sirens. I could do without those.

Yes, there are AT-ATs. Yes, there’s a badass heroine. But there’s also a lot more. Here are my other highlights:

Ben Mendelsohn is clean (i.e. not sweaty or looking like he smells like stale cigarettes)!!!!

Diego Luna looks like Poe. HOW YOU DOIN’?!

And to quote someone’s tweet I saw earlier, “Donnie Yen will do more than than that guy from THE RAID did in THE FORCE AWAKENS.”

So… what will you become when director Gareth Edwards’ film hits screens on December 16, 2016?
