Time travel movies are pretty hard to nail, the logic can get frustrating to unpack and the whole film just feels like a gimmick. It’s even harder to pull off a psychedelic time travel movie mixed with an existential buddy comedy about the consequences of corporate greed. This all sounds like a lot for one movie to wrap your head around, and by some miracle Gille Klabin’s debut feature THE WAVE swiftly moves through any pitfalls that come with a film this tricky navigate. Starring Justin Long (JEEPERS CREEPERS), in one of his more frenetic performance and Donald Faison (SCRUBS) this is the crowd-pleasing fun that’s perfectly catered toward Fantastic Fest. It’s a heady and totally entertaining film that’s the strangest trip since SORRY TO BOTHER YOU came out last year.
