The Kids Are Not All Right in the ‘COOTIES’ Trailer with Elijah Wood

Preston Barta // Features Editor

COOTIES
Director: Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion
Cast: Elijah Wood, Alison Pill, Rainn Wilson, Leigh Whannell, Jack McBrayer and Jorge Garcia

Last year we spoke with Elijah Wood about his upcoming horror-comedy titled COOTIES. Now, Lionsgate has released the first trailer, via Yahoo Movies.

Plot Summary:
From the minds of Leigh Whannell (co-creator of SAW and INSIDIOUS) and Ian Brennan (co-creator of GLEE), COOTIES is a horror-comedy with unexpected laughs and unapologetic thrills. When a cafeteria food virus turns elementary school children into little killer savages, a group of misfit teachers must band together to escape the playground carnage. The film stars Elijah Wood (THE LORD OF THE RINGS), Rainn Wilson (THE OFFICE), and Alison Pill (THE NEWSROOM) as teachers who fight to survive the mayhem while hilariously bickering in an uncomfortable love triangle on the worst Monday of their lives.

Trailer:

COOTIES is set to hit select theaters and Video-On-Demand on September 18.

I have been working as a film journalist since 2010, dividing the first four years between radio broadcasting and entertainment writing in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. In 2014, I entered Fresh Fiction (FreshFiction.tv) as the features editor. The following year, I stepped into the film critic position at the Denton Record-Chronicle, a daily North Texas print publication. My time is dedicated to writing theatrical film reviews, at-home entertainment columns, and conducting interviews with on-screen talent and filmmakers, as well as hosting a podcast devoted to genre filmmaking (called My Bloody Podcast). I've been married for ten happy years, and I have one son who is all about dinosaurs just like his dad.
