We are here for ‘UNFORGETTABLE,’ even though we keep forgetting it’s not out yet

Back in the 90’s, there was a burgeoning subgenre on the rise: female-driven psychological thrillers. Titles that fell under this banner (SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY, THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE, SINGLE WHITE FEMALE) became proven box-office contenders, making money hand-over-fist, exposing studios to an untapped, under-served market. But somewhere along the way, the bubble burst and that genre dried up. Audiences moved on. I may have shed a tear whilst still carrying around that flag.

While there was a brief, all too fleeting resurgence over at Screen Gems, with released like OBSESSED and THE ROOMMATE, no studio really buckled in to take that wild ride again – until now. Badass producer-turned-director Denise Di Novi makes her debut at the helm of one of those kinds of movies we’re probably going to love, UNFORGETTABLE.

The film dropped it’s final trailer… and… WE ARE HERE FOR IT (even though we – ironically – keep forgetting about it).

Starring Rosario Dawson and Katherine Heigl, the film has the two women squaring off over domestic turf. Heigl plays the ex-wife who appears to be literally insanely jealous over her ex-hubbies new lady love, played by Dawson, who’s got a secret past about to rear its head. Lines in the sand are, of course, drawn, but boundaries are gonna be broken, obviously, or there would be no trashtastic, potentially campy movie to see. I just hope they embrace this concept full-throttle.

UNFORGETTABLE opens on April 21.
