We’ve seen many live-action superheroes save the planet from total domination. We’ve also seen many of their animated avatars do the same. However, now it’s time for a scrappier squad to lend their helping hands. The Teen Titans from Cartoon Network’s long-running show TEEN TITANS GO! have arrived. And these heroes are armed with a supreme amount of sass, spunk and spirit – the likes of which we’ve never seen on the big screen before.

In directors Aaron Horvath and Peter Rida Michail’s TEEN TITANS GO! TO THE MOVIES, the team – Starfire (voiced by Hynden Walch), Raven (Tara Strong), Cyborg (voiced by Khary Payton), Beast Boy (Greg Cipes) and Robin (Scott Menville) – are fed up with being viewed by society and their peers as silly sidekicks and are now searching for some big screen validation. A series of wacky shenanigans, and one newfound nemesis later, our beloved Teen Titans appear to be on the right track.

At the film’s recent Los Angeles press day, I chatted with a few of the cast members about their well-established characters and the highlights of making the leap from the small screen, to the silver screen. I even got to do a bit of voice-over work, too, which was much more challenging that you’d think.

TEEN TITANS GO! TO THE MOVIES opens on July 27.
