AMC Brings Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie Miniseries to States

Pasadena, California

It was announced today, officially, that AMC will pick up the highly anticipated adaptation of John Le Carre’s THE NIGHT MANAGER starring Hugh Laurie (HOUSE) and Tom Hiddleston (THE AVENGERS). The network behind BREAKING BAD and THE WALKING DEAD is partnering with BBC One and The Ink Factory to bring these two British actors to American screens later in 2015.

The mini-series is a “contemporary interpretation of le Carre’s espionage drama — and the first television adaptation of a le Carre novel in more than 20 years. THE NIGHT MANAGER will bring together love, loss, and revenge in a complex story of modern criminality.”

THE NIGHT MANAGER follows a former British Solider named Jonathan Price, played by Hiddleston, who must journey through the seedy underbelly of Whitehall and Washington as he builds an unlikely (and potentially dangerous) partnership with the intelligence community and the secret arms trade. He meets arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper (Laurie) and must convince him that he is a criminal to gain his trust. All while keeping his identity hidden from the arms dealers.

Hiddleston and Laurie begin filming the multi-part series in April, a book series the pair of actors loved before they even signed on to play the iconic roles.

“I loved THE NIGHT MANAGER when it was published,” said Laurie, “and for more than 20 years I have yearned to see it realized on screen. I am now thrilled and honored to have the frontest of front row seats. All the moving parts are finely machined — we just have to not mess it up.”

“Jonathan Pine is a thrilling prospect,” added Hiddleston. “He is the most mysterious and complex kind of British hero. It’s an honor and a privilege to work with such truly impeccable collaborators as Hugh Laurie and Susan Bier (director) in bringing this to the screen.”

THE NIGHT MANAGER was first published in 1993 and remains one of le Carre’s most beloved and acclaimed books.
