‘BEAUTY AND THE BEAST’ teaser emphasizes scale, scope & score

Disney animated films have an iconography of their own that is timeless and unique. The 1991 Oscar winner BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is one of those such classics that revolutionized cinema as we know it. Having garnered an Academy Award nomination in the best picture category (the first time an animated film had ever done so), the film won countless honors and was a smash. The music and enhanced technology pushed storytelling forward in numerous ways. From one look at the teaser trailer to 2017’s live-action remake, it’s easy to see we’re in store for an exciting adventure behind those heavy doors of Beast’s castle.

The strongest elements emphasized in this teaser are Sarah Greenwood’s exquisite production design, director Bill Condon’s sweeping, sparkling scale and scope and also sweet nods to Alan Menken’s score that frankly we haven’t stopped humming since 1991.

With a script adapted by Evan Spiliotopoulos (THE HUNTSMAN: WINTER’S WAR) and Stephen Chbosky (THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER), we can’t wait to see what the live-action adaptation has in store. We’re already swooning!

So as we wait for BEAUTY AND THE BEAST to open on March 7, 2017 (a.k.a. not soon enough), let’s revisit the classic spoof, “Bonjour, Girl.”
