The idea of the Coen brothers working with George Clooney again just sounds so been there, done that. But having Clooney direct a Coen brothers’ script with Matt Damon attached? Oh, yeahhh.
The comedic drama will be Clooney’s sixth outing in the director’s chair, and his first since the very disappointing 2014 war drama THE MONUMENTS MEN.
SUBURBICON drops us in the PLEASANTVILLE-esque 1950s suburb where the worst things happen to the most ordinary of people. (Sounds like a Coen brothers’ movie, right?) When a home invasion turns deadly, husband and father Gardner Lodge (Matt Damon) must step up to the plate and turn to violence and blackmail in order to keep his family’s alive.
Expect craziness, laughs, blood and Damon hamming up to the sky in a performance that seemingly reflects the energy he brought to his underrated 2009 film THE INFORMANT!
SUBURBICON shows some promising supporting roles, too, including Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac. Check out the trailer below!
SUBURBICON opens in theaters on October 27, 2017.
