Meryl Streep inspires in the comedy ‘FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS’

“Is there anything Meryl Streep can’t do?!” This is the question people have been trying to give an answer for decades. She can do just about everything – including sing, having shown off her pipes in MAMA MIA and INTO THE WOODS. But now, she has to sing again – this time POORLY – in order to play the worst singer in history (#hyperbole) in FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS.

The film also stars a knockout cast, including Hugh Grant, Simon Helberg, Rebecca Ferguson and Nina Arianda. Take a look at all the period glamour and comedic hijinks below.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Set in 1940s New York, Florence Foster Jenkins is the true story of the legendary New York heiress and socialite (Meryl Streep) who obsessively pursued her dream of becoming a great singer. The voice she heard in her head was beautiful, but to everyone else it was hilariously awful. Her “husband” and manager, St. Clair Bayfield (Hugh Grant), an aristocratic English actor, was determined to protect his beloved Florence from the truth. But when Florence decided to give a public concert at Carnegie Hall, St. Clair knew he faced his greatest challenge.

FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS opens on August 12, which will make for both a good way to beat the Summer heat and to qualify it as a summer sleeper.
