Metaphorically-speaking, ‘SUSPIRIA’ asks ‘BLACK SWAN’ to hold its beer

Dario Argento’s SUSPIRIA is a horror classic. It’s utterly gorgeous in its aesthetic and chilling in its atmospheric tone. Director Luca Guadagnino (CALL ME BY YOUR NAME) had some big shoes to fill, remaking a beloved classic – and it appears he may have pulled off his own singular magnificent vision.

After much salivating online over the deliciously shocking clip played at a CinemaCon luncheon, the teaser has finally dropped. While, in recent years, BLACK SWAN reigned as the most intense psychological horror film about ballet, this new SUSPIRIA is here to snatch that crown. Take a look.

The final thirty seconds of this trailer will now haunt our nightmares. And so will this hook – or, what the Twitter community has fondly labelled it – the “wig snatcher.”

Similar to the now iconic work Goblin did on the ’77 film, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke was enlisted to provide the score for the update. It stars Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Lutz Ebersdorf, Chloë Grace Moretz and the original SUSPIRIA’s “Suzy Bannion,” Jessica Harper.

It’s admittedly got its hook in us. Has it also hooked you?

SUSPIRIA opens on November 2.
