I, like many, am dying to know what happens in the new CHILD’S PLAY movie. On my horror podcast, My Bloody Podcast, my co-host and I have been discussing it practically every week. I have to know how the new film separates itself from its 1988 original, and I have to know what Mark Hamill brings to the role that Brad Dourif made his own.

In anticipation of the new film – starring Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman and Brian Tyree Henry – Orion Pictures held a special screening on Wednesday night at Alamo Drafthouse in Austin. Not only did people arrive to see the movie, but they came dressed as the murderous doll Chucky!

Check out some of the images below, and be sure to visit the drafthouse.com to see about any other fun upcoming films they have going on. (Hint: It’s practically every day.) And catch the new CHILD’S PLAY in theaters this weekend!

I have been working as a film journalist since 2010, dividing the first four years between radio broadcasting and entertainment writing in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. In 2014, I entered Fresh Fiction (FreshFiction.tv) as the features editor. The following year, I stepped into the film critic position at the Denton Record-Chronicle, a daily North Texas print publication. My time is dedicated to writing theatrical film reviews, at-home entertainment columns, and conducting interviews with on-screen talent and filmmakers, as well as hosting a podcast devoted to genre filmmaking (called My Bloody Podcast). I've been married for ten happy years, and I have one son who is all about dinosaurs just like his dad.
