Viggo Mortensen has a new film in theaters. He wrote, directed, and starred in 'THE DEAD DON'T HURT,' which offers a nuanced depiction of the conflict between revenge and forgiveness.

Filmmaker and Oscar-nominated actor Viggo Mortensen talks about his new film, The Dead Don’t Hurt, emphasizing the importance of leaving some things unsaid to engage the audience in a different way. Mortensen wrote, directed, starred in, produced, and composed the music for the film, which offers a unique take on the Western romance genre by embracing poetic language and a more contemplative approach.

The story follows Vivienne Le Coudy (Vicky Krieps of Phantom Thread) and Holger Olsen (Mortensen) as they navigate a war-torn town controlled by a corrupt mayor (Danny Huston) and his unscrupulous business partner (Garret Dillahunt and Solly McLeod). When Olsen returns from the war, he and Vivienne must confront the changes they’ve undergone.

In our below video interview, Mortensen discusses his interest in filmmaking throughout his acting career and the inspiration behind the film. The Dead Don’t Hurt is currently showing in theaters. Check your local listings!
