Preston Barta // Features Editor

Who’s ready to watch Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco knock out some vampire teeth and get thrown around like rag dolls?

Catch them this weekend in Netflix’s action/horror/comedy DAY SHIFT, directed by stunt coordinator-turned-filmmaker J.J. Perry (JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2). But not before you watch our video interviews with them (and all their arm slaps) below!

Official Synopsis: Foxx stars as a hard working blue collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted daughter, but his mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income, hunting and killing vampires as part of an international Union of vampire hunters.

In our interview, we discuss the actors picking up the baton from the stunt team, Franco pulling off the Billy Madison pee-pee/cool pants, and how Perry plans to shake up car chase sequences in his future projects. Enjoy!

I have been working as a film journalist since 2010, dividing the first four years between radio broadcasting and entertainment writing in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. In 2014, I entered Fresh Fiction (FreshFiction.tv) as the features editor. The following year, I stepped into the film critic position at the Denton Record-Chronicle, a daily North Texas print publication. My time is dedicated to writing theatrical film reviews, at-home entertainment columns, and conducting interviews with on-screen talent and filmmakers, as well as hosting a podcast devoted to genre filmmaking (called My Bloody Podcast). I've been married for ten happy years, and I have one son who is all about dinosaurs just like his dad.
