Reaction:
We’ve gotten a few peaks at Ridley Scott’s (GLADIATOR) next film, THE MARTIAN, based on the best-selling novel by Andy Weir, but today we get a trailer. And boy, is it a doozy!

Damon (The BOURNE Series) stars as Astronaut Mark Watney, who is on a manned mission to Mars and pronounced dead after a fierce storm forces the crew to leave him behind. Now relying on all of his cunning, Watney must achieve contact with NASA or forever be a “Martian.”

We have seen this basic lost in space premise before (looking at you, GRAVITY), but the aforementioned novel hit groundbreaking acclaim. Written by Drew Goddard (THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, Netflix’s DAREDEVIL), the dialogue in the trailer is oozing with quip and quirk that has been synonymous with Goddard’s work.

THE MARTIAN hits theaters on November 25.

I have been working as a film journalist since 2010, dividing the first four years between radio broadcasting and entertainment writing in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. In 2014, I entered Fresh Fiction (FreshFiction.tv) as the features editor. The following year, I stepped into the film critic position at the Denton Record-Chronicle, a daily North Texas print publication. My time is dedicated to writing theatrical film reviews, at-home entertainment columns, and conducting interviews with on-screen talent and filmmakers, as well as hosting a podcast devoted to genre filmmaking (called My Bloody Podcast).
