Trailer: Tom Hardy is Playing Twins in ‘LEGEND’

Preston Barta // Features Editor

Not to be confused with the Ridley Scott 1980’s fantasy film with Tom Cruise, StudioCanal has debuted the trailer for LEGEND.

The upcoming film, featuring double the talent from Tom Hardy (MAD MAX: FURY ROAD), is the true story of the Kray twins, a pair of gangsters who controlled much of London’s organized crime in the 60s.

According to sources, LEGEND generated a lot of buzz at Cannes last year, with buyers claiming Brian Hegleland’s screenplay (who penned L.A. CONFIDENTIAL) was one of the best scripts they’d come across. From the trailer, which you can view below, you can bet there is much truth in that. There’s undeniably a GOODFELLAS-like tone from the trailer– so taking that and throwing Hardy in front of the lens, well, you can color us excited.

LEGEND opens in sometime in September.

I have been working as a film journalist since 2010, dividing the first four years between radio broadcasting and entertainment writing in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. In 2014, I entered Fresh Fiction (FreshFiction.tv) as the features editor. The following year, I stepped into the film critic position at the Denton Record-Chronicle, a daily North Texas print publication. My time is dedicated to writing theatrical film reviews, at-home entertainment columns, and conducting interviews with on-screen talent and filmmakers, as well as hosting a podcast devoted to genre filmmaking (called My Bloody Podcast). I've been married for ten happy years, and I have one son who is all about dinosaurs just like his dad.
