[Video Interview] Parker Posey discusses ‘BEAU IS AFRAID’

Courtney Howard // Film Critic

Affable actress Parker Posey has grabbed our attention and held onto it since the early 90s. Her versatile talents have shown through an array of roles in films like DAZED AND CONFUSED, PARTY GIRL and WAITING FOR GUFFMAN, to more genre-driven fare like SCREAM 3, JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS and SUPERMAN RETURNS. Now she returns to the big screen in Ari Aster’s BEAU IS AFRAID.

Posey’s role as Elaine, a mysterious woman from the titular protagonist’s (Joaquin Phoenix) past who resurfaces at the funeral service for his mother (Patti LuPone), required her to get into a very specific headspace to perform – one she found freeing. At the film’s recent press day, she explained to us how her own career working with other visionary auteurs helped inform the role.

BEAU IS AFRAID is now playing everywhere.
