There’s nothing like the holidays to bring families together – or tear them apart as the case may be for the one at the center of KRAMPUS. The hell-a-day horror-comedy – which looks like its in the same vein as 80’s horror classics you love – introduces to the evil companion of the beloved figure Santa Claus. Originating from German-speaking Alpine folklore, Krampus is the horned, anthropomorphic devilish creature who (according to Wikipedia) dispenses ill-behaved, rotten kids with coal and smacks them with ruten bundles. Eesh! While the feast of St. Nicholas takes place on December 6, Krampus arrives the night before to wreak havoc. This year, in American cinemas, he arrives a little early – on December 4 to be exact.

Steele yourselves for a hearty dose of yuletide ghoul when you watch the trailer below.

Directed by Michael Dougherty (TRICK ‘R TREAT), the film stars Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner, Allison Tolman, Conchata Ferrell, Stefania Lavie Owen (“Dorrit” from THE CARRIE DIARIES) and Krista Stadler. Considering this is brought to you by Weta Workshops, we think this is destined to jingle our bells come this Christmas season.

If you adore cheeky horror films like we do, it will be the most wonderful time of the year when KRAMPUS opens on December 4.
