MORGAN looks like it’s yet another overt take on the always popular Frankenstein myth – a rather legitimate fear that technology will usurp its creators. They are stories that strike terror into us, making us fear change, even though never wanting to stop the need to create new tech. That’s also not to say Luke Scott’s film will be anything like what we’ve seen done before with tales of this nature. It’s wager it’ll be a refreshing take on the myth which makes me hopeful that we’ll get the socks knocked off our feet come September.

In the film, Kate Mara’s creation, an experiment dubbed “Morgan,” appears to get away from her in a dangerous and very bloody fashion. Behold the spooky trailer:

Here’s the official synopsis:

A corporate troubleshooter (Kate Mara) is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent “human,” who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.

MORGAN opens on September 2.
