Matilda Lutz as Julia in RINGS by Paramount Pictures

Courtney Howard // Film Critic

In the world of Americanized remakes, there are very few films that have raised the bar quite like director Gore Verbinski’s THE RING. Filled with chilling imagery, it put the fear of God in most audiences. The sequel….well…was lackluster and not nearly the juggernaut the original was, but that hasn’t stopped filmmakers from thinking of fresher ideas to reinvigorate the franchise. Director F. Javier Gutierrez (BEFORE THE FALL) has his take – and we’ll finally get to see the delayed continuation, RINGS.

Today, Paramount released a new poster. And it’s still as creepy as the teaser.

Here’s the official synopsis:

A new chapter in the beloved RING horror franchise. A young woman becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before…

RINGS stars Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan and Vincent D’Onofrio. I bet a new trailer isn’t far behind.

“Evil is reborn” when RINGS opens on February 3.
