There are certain people we look to save this country from ruin; the President, Tom Hanks and now Mark Wahlberg. Not only does PATRIOTS DAY mark(y mark) the third time Wahlberg has paired up with director Peter Berg, but this is also the third time he’s played a hero (LONE SURVIVOR and DEEPWATER HORIZON being the previous two times). And guess what? This looks equally as tear-jerking as their previous collaborations.

Imma be a friggin wicked mess during this screening – and I know I won’t be alone in my tearshed.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In the aftermath of an unspeakable attack, Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders (Mark Wahlberg) joins courageous survivors, first responders and investigators in a race against the clock to hunt down the bombers before they strike again. Weaving together the stories of Special Agent Richard Deslauriers (Kevin Bacon), Police Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman), Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese (J.K. Simmons) and nurse Carol Saunders (Michelle Monaghan) this visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the suspense of one of the most sophisticated manhunts in law enforcement history and celebrates the strength of the people of Boston.

Bring a box of tissues to this one. As it’s about to make you blubber like a newborn up in the theater when this debuts.

PATRIOTS DAY will open in Boston, New York, and Los Angeles on December 21, 2016. The film will open nationwide on January 13, 2017.
